READING LIST OR REFERENCE GUIDE FOR INSTRUCTORS

(e. g. Social Studies, Political Science, History, Government, Language Arts, Reading, Civics, etc.)

The reading lists and reference books when authored by people of diverse backgrounds  and experiences provide the base to stimulate a student to be thoughtful. It allows a class to have energetic, intelligent decisions and discussions. The books listed here fills in part this needed spectrum in quality education!

Today America and the world agree that there is a need to gain information form as many sources as possible. This is because the records of history are burdened with the records that are biased by the persons, who are doing the recording. Did Columbus really discover America? Or did the Indians discoverer these European foreigners on their shores one day in 1492.Did Eli Whitney really invent the cotton Gin? Who were really the barbarians, English or Africans? What were really the Opiate wars in China??

The World Wide Web (WWW) or the “Information Highway” has demonstrated that when eventually the vehicle for bringing information to the public is simple and readily available the nature of information changes radically. The traditional media and the politicians have had sole access to the mass media (Traditional Media) and what eventually gets into the accepted textbooks! This power has resulted in a history as seen by a selected group of people at a particular time in history. For a while only the kings and the Pope of Rome controlled this powerful public communication and information vehicle. Therefore, the spin of the historical records was limited. However, today the WWW has opened public information systems to a more accurate or at the least diverse body of information or a body of information provided by a variety of perspectives.

At this time schools and institutions of our advisors and education system need to review their normal reading list subjects- of subjects and authors revise them to meet the new world of information -and thus provide students and future leaders with better tools for progress.

This creates need up-to-date lists of materials published by people of many backgrounds and personal objectives. Here is a brief list of selected publications and authors that should be added to all reading list and list of choices for the reader and student to make their decisions and write their papers!!
