The escalating war between America and Arabs is right around the corner…….especially in the Black community! Now more than ever, Blacks are complaining about the way they are being treated by Arabic-Americans who have moved into Black neighborhoods and purchased all of the community convenience stores! Go to any Black community in any state and you'll find non-Blacks running the convenience stores in our neighborhood. The Arabs who run the Suwanee Swiftys, Majic Markets, Time Savers and other such stores seem to only care about profits. They are not active in the communities where they work, they don't hire a lot of people in the communities where they work and they wouldn't dream of living in the Black communities where they purchased stores! If Blacks in America want other people to own stores in Black communities, that is their choice but if this trend continues we will be economically doomed! Modern-day neocolonialism cannot be tolerated. You may say, "anybody can open up a store or a business anywhere they want to." I say, if you open a Black-owned store in an Arab-American or white neighborhood you will immediately go broke! Why? Because other ethnic groups prefer to transact business with their own kind. Cubans prefer to patronize Cuban-owned businesses. Indians like to shop at stores owned by Indians. And, God knows rednecks love to spend their money at businesses owned by rednecks! A Jew will drive past a hundred stores to get to a Jew store! That is what we need to do. We need to try to support each other! However, a step in the right direction would occur if Blacks become better business persons. Just because we are the same color, that alone is not the best reason to patronize each other's business. We need to offer the best products and services. We need to be community conscious. Our businesses need to be more community active. At one time, the only place we could shop was at the Black business in the Black community. We couldn't sit down at the white lunch counter. We couldn't drink water from the white water fountain. We couldn't lay our heads in the white hotel bed. Now we just can't wait to run and spend our money at the non-Black owned store! We can't tell Arab-Americans not to set up shop in Black communities but we can boycott their businesses if they don't treat us with more love and respect. I don't shop where the store owners don't respect me! They made not be able to find Ben Laden but if set up shop in the 'hood and treat the people badly, we can find your ass! April 14, 2002 The Country of Israel has attempted to protect it's citizens and bring Peace to the Middle East by bombing Lebanon, firing live rounds on stone throwing children, holding Yasir Arafat hostage in his own home in his own community and other such things. If they don't know, those tactics have not worked. Every time a tank has rolled into the lands of an Israeli neighbor, shortly afterwards a suicide bomb goes off and kills the bomber and many Israelis Try giving the Palestinians their world recognized homeland! How about retreating, so to speak, to the 1967 borders and boundaries that Israel had. Why not try prohibiting new Jewish settlements on the West Bank? I'm afraid for the Arabs and Jews in the Middle East. I am afraid that their conflicts will bring everybody else into them. If the US, Russia, China and other countries get involved in the Middle East disagreements, we all will catch hell! One of the reasons that Muslims "hate" America is because America loves to get involved in the conflicts of other countries. American politicians, not American citizens, want the US to be the world's policeman. Our sons and daughters are ordered to go to strange lands and to fight strange people for strange reasons.
By Lucius Gantt If State Senator Daryl Jones gets any white votes at all in his quest to become Governor of Florida, he will win the Democratic Primary! Why? Because whites are ignoring the Black vote! Candidates for Governor of Florida are paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to out of state consultants who are advising candidates to ignore the Black voters until August. This can be deadly! If Black voters don't go to the polls, a Republican win is automatic. The Democratic candidates can't go to sleep and dream about winning a statewide race for Governor if Blacks don't vote for Democratic candidates. What candidates don't know is that the votes that they are strategizing to get, they can get on their own without the highly paid so-called political experts. The white consultants cannot generate Black votes or student votes or rural "truck" votes. They only get frequent voters who will go to the polls anyway and Democrats need more! Trust me! A normal turnout of white Democrats won't win a rat race! There must be an extraordinary turnout of Black voters for a Democrat to win any statewide office! Are Democrats doing there best to influence Black voters? I think not! It seems to me, Democrats are using the same losing consultants with the same losing strategy. To get the Black vote, many candidates feel the only thing you need is a bucket of chicken and a keg of beer! After that, cover the car wind shields of church goers with useless campaign literature and the Black vote is yours. Elections are so scientific and technological these days that the old tactics don't work anymore. You need to have direct mail specifically designed for Black voters, you need to have radio and TV commercials designed specifically for Black voters. You need to have a clear and honest political message specifically designed for Black voters. If Daryl Jones gets twenty-five percent of the white votes cast in the Democratic Primary and eighty or ninety percent of the Black votes cast and there is a huge Black turnout, Jones will beat his Democratic contenders like a drum! The white candidates will split the white vote and Jones will win! Roosevelt Wilson, publisher of The Capitol Outlook newspaper suggested in a recent editorial column that a team of Jones and Bill McBride or Bill McBride and Jones, however you want to say it, could be the best bet for Democrats to beat Jeb Bush. May be! I still say any Democratic team will lose unless someone is hired that can deliver the "crack" vote and make people put down their crack pipes, or whatever distraction, long enough to cast a vote. Almost everybody in the Black community will have to vote for a Democrat to become Governor! The way that white consultants are telling candidates to spend their money, I don't see it. Once again, candidates plan to spend all they can with political carpet baggers and if there are any crumbs left, throw a few pennies at the Black newspapers, Black radio stations and the Black preachers a month or so before election day!
